Many Tollywood leading stars including Chiranjeevi are currently working on remakes of Tamil blockbusters. What's common between Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and Pawan Kalyan, besides the fact that they're related? The common streak is that all of them are working on remakes.
Chiranjeevi is currently working on his 150th film Kathilantodu, which is the Telugu remake of Tamil blockbuster Kaththi. The film was originally directed by AR Murugadoss.Speaking about the remake trend, Trinath, a trade analyst said, "Chiranjeevi is making a comeback after a long hiatus, and the makers wanted to choose a tried-and-tested project instead of risking with an original script. Kaththi has all the mass-appealing elements and its remake should be perfect for Chiranjeevi."
Chiranjeevi's brother Pawan Kalyan, is all set to remake the Tamil film Veeram, which had Ajith playing the lead role.
"I liked the script of Veeram. However, I felt it needed to be tweaked for Telugu audiences," said Kalyan.
Ram Charan's upcoming Telugu actioner Dhruva is directed by National award-winning director Surender Reddy. Dhruva is the remake of Tamil film Thani Oruvan.Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan have already began shooting for the remakes while Pawan Kalyan is looking for a director to helm the Telugu remake of Veeram.
